I AM AN IMPATIENT OPTIMIST - 

She lives in the middle of the nowhere. "I want to be able to go outside, walk and ride bikes." She lives in a house where fashion is only moderately present. "One day we might build an additional studio, but for now the house is a project in development.  Nothing is fixed, everything can change, at any time. That's how I like it."

She originates from one of the hidden treasures in Belgium, a postcard-sized village with maybe 200 inhabitants. "I'm a farmer's daughter," she says. Which is maybe a slight exaggeration. "But I really grew up outside. In nature. I want the same wealth and freedom for my children."

Belgian designer Toos Franken (1989) started her career in fashion at the renowned Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, followed by experiences at Ann Demeulemeester and Haider Ackermann. Since launching the namesake brand in 2018, the collections are often artistically inspired; influenced by Arte Povera, Agnes Martin, Vivian Maier, the aesthetics of the french Zazous,... 

Toos Franken obtains a unique position in the luxury industry as a trained tailor, by creating and drawing the patterns for each garment herself. A comprehension and a knowledge of the female silhouette has manifested itself in her collections through explicit tailoring, meticulous cut and fit.
